New Year ~ New Goals ~ New You 

I hope your holidays were filled with love, laughter, and spending quality time with family and friends. I know we had a roller coaster of emotions over the months, from dealing with Covid, complications from Covid, a family member fighting breast cancer, to spending cherished time with our family, making wonderful memories, and the birth of our third grandbaby.😊 Hopefully, ending this past year on such a great note, sets the tone for 2022.

And here we are, New Year, New You, and all those changes we hope to make over the next twelve months. Striving to make ourselves the best we can be for ourselves and our families, seems to be an yearly pledge for me.πŸ˜“

This year though, I chose not to place restrictions on myself. Instead, I plan to make a better version of myself each day. Every morning is a new beginning, and if I fail to achieve one of my goals/chore for the day, I can always start new the next. Some may think this is setting myself up for failure, but for me this is what gives flexibility. After all, that day of the week does comes about when you don't want a salad for lunch or a protein shake for breakfast, instead you indulge in an egg sandwich or maybe french fries and a burger (those days do happen, at least in my world). 

And it's not all about food. For some, like me, I have a wide range of things in my life I would love to improve on this year. Exercise being another one. Though I strive to get on the treadmill everyday, some days it just doesn't happen. Instead of being down on myself for it, (okay maybe a little-but I'm working on not beating myself up over it😞) focus on eating a little healthier that day and plan on getting back on the treadmill the following morning. 

What seems to be working for me, is setting goals for the day, week, month, year, and what I don't get done for a particular day, put it at the top of the list for the next. While I won't bore you with all the particulars here is a small example of my day; I wake up, hit the treadmill, grab my protein shake, spend some time going over what I want to accomplish for the day-chores, errands or appointments, what I'm preparing for supper, evening chores, and carve in a little relaxation time in the evening with hubby- then I set out to fulfill my day. (Some days we put too much pressure on ourselves and need a little forgiveness. Don't pile on so much on that you forget to enjoy your day and time with those around you. I'm guilty of this too- but hey, I'm a work in progress.πŸ˜…) 

So here's to giving ourselves forgiveness, time to relax, breathe, and take time out of each day for what matters most to us as individuals.
